How Spinal Decompression Can Alleviate Chronic Back and Neck Pain

Chronic back pain can cause an extremely disruptive life leading to difficulties performing daily routine and it is not just that, chronic back pain can lead to a disturbed spine structure further prompting a bad posture. Spinal decompression therapy is what helps solve this problem by involving stretches in the therapy of the spine, neck, and loosening of the shoulder muscles. Let’s dig in for further information.

What is Spinal Decompression?

Spinal decompressions are of two types – surgical and non-surgical. A nonsurgical spinal decompression is a type of mechanical pull that helps back and neck pain relief. It works by gently stretching the spine that helps change the force and position of the spine further re-assembling the posture. It is not a complex process however, it for sure is a sensitive method as excess pressure or pull could dislocate the spine. Care2Cure enables the patients to rely on their physiotherapists and ensures a positive result as always!

This spinal decompression treatment takes off any kind of excessive pressure from the spinal disks as these are gel-like cushions between the bones in your spine. This results in resolving bulged or herniated disks which also helps resolve sciatica as the pressure is also released from the nerves between the disks. This helps to enhance the movement of water, better supply of oxygen, and allows the flow of nutrient-rich fluids into the disks, improving the healing process.

Surgical spinal decompression is a process that involves a surgical procedure to undergo, and as all surgeries have risks, so does this one. These risks include – infection of the spine, bleeding, clotting of the blood in the spine, allergic reactions to anesthesia, nerve damage, etc. also, this surgery does not guarantee to improve your back. It is impossible to determine who shall benefit from the surgery. Hence, it is best to consult a physiotherapist  at Care2Cure, we ensure promising results!

Treatment of Spinal Decompression.

The process of spinal decompression usually consists of combinations of actions that are very specific and related to one another. These consists of:

  • The force of the pull
  • The degree of angle of the pull
  • Intervals of pulls

It is necessary to have intervals in the pull as creating negative pressure in-between of the discs of the spinal cord produces vacuum inside the discs that helps to draw in bulging discs and extruded disc material back to its original position which further contributes to taking off the pressure formed over the nerves of the spinal cord. This release of pressure from the nerves enables essential nutrients to flow back and forth in the entire spine and accelerates the healing process for both herniated and degenerated discs.

How do we do spinal decompression?

At Care2Cure, decompression therapy usually consists of a series of treatments ranging from 15 to 30 types, with each session lasting for about 30 to 45 minutes that is covered over a period of 4 to 6 weeks. At the beginning of each session, you will be fitted with a harness that is specifically devised to achieve ideal decompression of the neck and the lower back. During these sessions, you will observe a gradual lengthening of your spine as your spinal discs are gradually decompressed and the pressure is relieved. It is a very soothing and relaxing process. Patients with intensively injured discs may feel some discomfort in the first few sessions however, it subsidizes eventually in the followed-up sessions. Sometimes, the results have been extremely fruitful that it may require no more than 8 visits. Usually, patients report relief from their pain and other symptoms during the first few treatment sessions and experience the most drastic experience in their pain relief.

Based upon patients’ body weight, individual tolerance, level of severity, and duration of symptoms, Physiotherapists at Care2Cure will provide a personalized treatment plan for spinal/lower back and neck pain. This helps ensure the best and long-lasting results.

Spinal decompression therapy at Care2Cure is a safe process and completely painless. However, not everyone qualifies for this therapy. the following conditions may qualify for this treatment –
